That show was brilliant as was the dinner afterwards. Time for another one I am thinking. Who's up for it?

Yep, my all time favourite airshow, that was.

Yep, my all time favourite airshow, that was. It was certainly a benchmark one for me, but the Sunday Wings Over Wairarapa show the following January stole the top spot for me. The wide range of DH types from DH5 to DH98 was magic, Mosquito/Venom/Vampire/Vampire formation, Mosquito, Spitfire, Spitfire, Mustang, P-40, P-40, Corsair formation, 9 x Jets, the Weather... so memorable

Yes I agree. The airshow at Ardmore was great but the airshow at Hood was magic. I knew I was watching something special that maybe I would never see again, and I managed to get up into the mosquito cockpit.

Perhaps for Wal's next one he can insert a clause in the contract that it must appear at one NZ airshow.....dreams on......

How about "must appear at all NZ airshows"

Isn't the next one being done on spec? So whatever fits with AvSpecs' marketing strategy?

It is ten years today since this amazing airshow. Every single display in the show was brilliant. The Mosquito was incredible and so was the Anson also on its debut. One I will never forget.

Oh yes, that was another fantastic day, the Forum Meet, with a bunch of forumites from all round NZ, and a group from Australia, and brilliantly we even had Jerry and Elaine Yagen join us. I will never forget the look on Steve Subritzky's face when I said to him that Jerry was on his way and was on the phone needing directions. It was as if I'd said the Queen was coming. And Jerry gave a great wee talk, as did Gordo Glynn from HARS, John Parker (now managing the Hunter Fighter Collection), WWII Mossie pilot John Beeching, and stories from Don Subritzky and a few others. I remember Jerry won a number of the raffle draws and he was very chuffed to get some second hand aviation books and magazines as prizes. And then a few of us capped off the afternoon by going for a flight with Andrew Schooler in Stan Smith's awesome DH84 Dragon. What a wonderful weekend! I treasure the memories of that one.

It was an excellent weekend at both Ardmore and the Subritzky's.
Although I was at both events, I mostly stayed anonymous. Next time I'll make myself known a bit more.

Both were great....my friend of over 40 years - Gordo - gave that little talk. Unfortunately today he is suffering from the effects of a stroke...wish we were both back to that day
