Does anone know the registration and pilot of the towplane Pawnee?
And does anyone know which A-109 was on static display? I never even saw it at all.
I think that's the only detail I now have missing, although I must ask, did the Stearman ZK-USN that was parked down the front do a display or not? I cannot recall but suspect not.

what is the make and model of Arthur Gatland's glider he displayed in, ZK-GCS? ZK-GCS/2 - Schempp-Hirth Discus CS (Presumably I am not not allowed to reveal that it is owned by the Auckland Gliding Club, so I won't). Their Pawnee is ZK-CEB, no idea if that was the one used as I was not there.

Thanks Peter, yeah I found that when I finally found gliders on the CAA page.
I just realised I stil don't have the name of the pilot who displayed the RNZAF CT/4E. Was it Scott McKenzie or is my vague memory wrong there?

Historical Aviation Film Unit has uploaded a video of the TR.9 Spitfire doing a 'night run' at Ardmore the night before the Mosquito airshow. Very cool

I think Colin Bell is normally the chap that flies the Pawnee at Drury, not sure if it was him flying it on the open day but I assume probably so.

Can anyone explain why they were closing the throttle so quickly in that spitfire runup sequence?

Can anyone explain why they were closing the throttle so quickly in that spitfire runup sequence? Dont know for sure , but it could be an attempt to make a more spectatular backfire , or " crackle " as the engine goes into " over run " .

Spot on Lumpy.
The problem is it just doesnt do it properly without the assistance of the airflow through the prop, the extra RPM from the windmilling in the air make the pop and crackle much more pronounced. If it could be replicated on the ground the flames would be impressive, the closest you can get is with a rapid power reduction.

While sorting out some data recovery with a view to doing a 3-Mossie montage, I realised that I hadn't processed most of my photos from this show. Made me remember what a good variety of supporting acts was complied, and how many first sightings there were for me.
