Bloody great stuff guys, looks like a fantastic day out had by all! Where else in the world can you see that sort of variety! I hope the avspecs guys are having a well deserved beer or 5 tonight. Keep the photos coming !

Was great fun, and a great day, though the traffic management was non existent  now, thats a mean looking shot, down low at treetops, ready to blast up another gerry train When I was working at ChCh Hospital about four or five years ago ran across a patient who was a 487 Sqn vet and he & I got talking. He fair loved chasing and attacking trains. He said it was safer down there than upstairs as he was quite scared of fighters. Which I think is fair comment. He was a great sort and knew the end was near. He had a really good sense of humour and not adverse to having a bit of fun even in hospital when he was quite ill. |

Beautiful photographs of beautiful aeroplanes on what was a very special day. Where I was standing I saw grown men cry at the sight of the Mossie roaring by during its first fly past; no word of a lie. When I lived in the UK I saw RR299 fly at a number of shows, but never like this. Truly magical. Absolutely wonderful day - thanks to all involved in making it all happen.  |

Great photos everyone.
Am still struggling to take in what happened yesterday it was incredible.
Will never forget the quietest airshow crowd I have heard when the Mossie flew for the first time. Seemed like stunned silence and the Avspecs boys jumping around with excitement was great to see. To all of the other pilots and operators we love you all but seeing that Mossie flying around stopped everyone in their tracks and rightfully so.
Another highlight for me was being asked to fly in the chase plane for the very first flight. We went up in the Trojan and soon after take off we went in really close in a line astern formation to check that the doors had all closed properly and their were no fluid leaks and we could clearly hear those engines thundering away.
Their are a few photos on me photography page on facebook due to only operating by cell phone over the last week.
We took a few photos but through perspex as their was too much going on to contemplate opening the canopies as in the Trojan they both have to open together and it gets rather noisy so we kept everything closed up.
Am amazing week seeing it all come together and to see Jerry Yagens reaction to seeing the completed aircraft for the first time showed just how passionate he is and was a reminder to us all as to how important people like Jerry are to the Warbird industry.
Finally great job team Avspecs all of them were so proud. Having been to Ardmore several times over the past month they were getting quite tired but their passion and dedication kept them going.
Hope they are having a good sleep in this morning but like most of us who were there yesterday they probably didnt sleep after such an amazing day.
Good to catch up with some forum members as well.

I'd certainly back up Gavin's comments, starting with great photos. I'm sure Gavin meant to mention them too, but as well as those listed, a tip of the hat to Glyn Powell and his (tiny) team, without whom, etc.
And the veterans. I only met a couple, but while the day was about an aircraft, it was the people who made it - neat to see Keith shake hands at the end of the show with all the veterans in the line in front of the Mozzie.

Brilliant photography,last time I saw a Mossie in the air as about 1950 when 6 from 75Sqn flew over over Auckland returning to Ohakea after an exersize at Waipapakauri

Great photos guys keep em coming. What a fantastic day out and the dinner last night just topped it off. Great to be back in this morning to see the Mossie moved back to Avspecs and the Skyhawk returned to her nest. About the only different shot I have is this head on "I got you in my sights!" pic. I feel embarrassed to post these along side some of the amazing shots above.. but you get the jist of what I saw through my lens over the course of the day.... was a brilliant day out!
