16251 rings a bell for the main grey, 16118 for the markings but you might want to get a second opinion.

Confirmed by a previous thread in 2006 " The correct FS number for the Orions is FS16251. The ONLY model paint manufacturer who has this colour in the range is Xtracolor/Xtracrylics available from Hannants. The markings are all FS 16118."

So is FS16251 the main colour of the current scheme? Because it looks a little dark?

Picked up the Orion model from the shop today Looking forward to making it. Does anyone have some suggestions on how to make the MX-20 Electro optical turret?

You looking at putting on all the new K2 sensors and antenna, and filling up the large sonobuoy area underneath

I was thinking of just doing the K model, not the K2's for simplicity sake haha. The sonobuoy area is still filled in for the K models right?

Haven't made a model since my 1/48 herk was destroyed by a rogue cat in the hangar at 40 Sqn one night spilling MEK over it. Only guess I would have is if some other 1/72 model of something with it fitted was avaliable.

Will the P-3K that previously had the cone shaped ESM pod still have it after the K2 upgrade?

Hi Mr Orion, could find only this; in the pics of the P-3 I have the turret is shown turned to the side as here. Dutch Navy P-3 nose turret, but I don't know if our P-3s have the same type of turret.

Nope. P-3K turret is different, or at least it was back in the late 90's. P-3K2 turret is what you are showing above. P-3K turret has flat glass plates on four angles covering the optics and has rubber blocks glued all over it to stop airflow turbulence. I'm afraid I never took many photos of P-3's when I was on 5, I was normally looking at other peoples aircraft when away at shows! But here is what I do have. Photo 1 is from Paul Harrision's book "Kiwi Orions". Photo 2 and 3 are mine. Photo 4 and 5 are from the RNZAF 60th Anniversary booklet. Sorry about the quality, I'm taking macro photos of the photos with my camera! Note all the rubber blocks glued onto the turret. From memory they were cubes. Close up of the next photo. Wide angle of the last photo. Notice the four flat plates covering the optics. How it looked when it was looking at you. Sorry I never took more photos of the P-3K. Lots of other aircraft (Tiger meet 104/Tornado/Mig21 etc) while away on deployments, but never of our ship!
