Wigram, down by 7 Hangar.
But, port wingtip looks photoshopped.
Colourised WWII photo, note Jeep, but could be late 40's or early 50's

Enjoy the choc fish Craig. The 'Fix' picture function cleaned it up that well? It really looked like a model to me.

No photoshopping of the port wing that I know off.... trick question really - as I'm not sure of the location either...I suspect OH as it's a OTU aircraft - and not sure they carried the Squadron codes post war - but unsure.
I'd go with OH - the photographic section there would have had colour during the war ? - only other colour shot I recall is the MK II at WB being washed.
Cheers Hvd1041

Could it have been colourised by hand?

As you have all pretty much worked out, this photo of John's Harvard, NZ1041, was taken in WWII, possibly at Ohakea, while it was with No. 4 OTU. It was a black and white photo that John asked me to colourise for him, using Photoshop. He's been trying to pull your legs on this but it's pretty obvious it's not a real coloured photo.

Fellas, I have a couple of Harvard images and also a question. These pictures are of NZ1044 at the Air New Zealand training school in Chch in early 2006 before it was carted away: My question. Does anyone have a photo of the Harvard that used to sit in Memorial Park in Tauranga and when was it scrapped? I've been told which one it was but I can't find the info. Thx

Ah yes Dave - the trick obviously didn't work - ah well - I still think it is a nice job you did ! - and it probably did look like that I'd wager. Chocolate fish to you. NZ1044 - couple of shots here of it about 3 years back in its shed near Rolleston.

Crikey, there doesn't look as if there is enough room to swing a cat, let alone store a Harvard!
I liked the NAC roundels on the wings; nice touch. When I was at Air NZ in Chch I remember seeing ground servicing equipment still decked out in NAC markings.
Photos of the Tauranga Harvard, anyone?

My eye is drawn to the nose of the prop on NZ982. It looks like a prop dome similar to Hamilton Standards on DC3/C47s for example instead of the prophub with the external counterweights you normally see. Trick of the light and the spinning prop?? No I haven't gone insane quoting my own quote. However i thought I might have 2 reasons for the strange prop hub on NZ982. One: another Harvard has taken off and its nose has just peeked into shot by the prop hub. Or if you page down this thread: warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=43703 you will see a shot of a T6 that is badly damaged and up for sale in the US but note the prop hub in a photo when she was airworthy lower down. No external counterweights and a prop dome (like a Dakota prop for example). Still not a perfect match though is it?

Looking at it closely, it's not the same as a HS 'hydromatic' prop; the hub is too small. The T-6 in the photo on the link Lumpy posted has one fitted (they came in different sizes, but the Dak is fitted with the very common 23E50).
