Does anyone here know which NZPAF Bristol Fighters were among the four that met and escorted the Southern Cross into Wigram on the 11th of September 1928?
And who the pilots and crew members were aboard those aircraft?

Dave , I have seen the odd photo of this and I think there was a movie cameraman perched in the rear cockpit of one of them, tripod and all. Does this ring any bells , or is it just another dream .? Does the movie film survive ?

Yes there was a film cameraman in one of them. The film maker made a fortune in the ensuing weeks taking it around the country to screen (even in the Cambridge Town Hall). I am sure it does survive somewhere.

Dave the dream was real. The photo is of 6857 and the movie cameraman was Charlie Barton , but no details of the crew.

Dave here's the photo I recalled. It's labelled Charlie Barton at Wigram to film the Southern Cross arrival.

My Grandfather, William Leonard Harrison piloted one of the Bristol Fighters, and I believe that it was 6857 with the RNZAF cameraman. This article from the Ashburton Guardian in 1968 recalls the day that they flew the Southern Cross into Wigram. Buckley was in charge of the flight. I believe that the article was contributed by his son and wife in 1968 as WLH died in 1967. I do not know where his log books are or if they still exist.
