In 2008 not one but two Beech Staggerwings crossed the Tasman Sea, in my opinion one of the best looking between the war aeroplanes.
Both these very stylish, recently restored in New Zealand machines with similar paint jobs both came through on beautiful days, lucky for me, you should see the video!
Have reloaded the pic's lower in this thread.

They were both flying at Classic Fighters in 2007 with a third yellow example. Simply beautiful to see all three in the air together, a real treat.

I spent a LOT of time on NC16S "The Red Rockette" it was a big, big rebuild.

Hmm, ok, thanks Ryan. I am sure I have seen a yellow one somewhere and assumed it was there.
Well done on the rebuild, I recall thinking it was the ncest of the lot.
How many remain Staggerwings in NZ today? Any?

The early model Staggerwing that we have been doing for an Australian client until recently was yellow but is now in its original factory dark blue and silver scheme.
It never flew here in yellow however.

Hello people from Downunder :-) I write to you from Belgium and I'm a newbee on the forum. So, excuse me for my poor english... I will come for a month in NZ in March 2016 and the Stag' is something like my fetish aircraft. Can anybody tell me if there is still one flying (or not!) in NZ? Thanks
Steph

Hi Fragamort! Welcome to the forum. Sadly I am pretty sure we have no flying ZK examples, however the stunning VH-UXP is, to the best of my knowledge, still flying in NZ post restoration work a couple of years ago. As to its actual location - I am unsure. nzcivair.blogspot.co.nz/2015/06/staggerwing-vh-uxp.html

I believe that VH-UXP operates out of Mandeville.

Thanks guys for the information. It seems the Stag is in Mandeville and I discovered they also had a museum and the fly-in w-e in early March 2015. Maybe I will be there at the right time in 2016 :-)

Good news! I'll be back to Belgium before the show, but I'll have a chance to see her before at Wanaka! :-)
