According to South African media, on 5th December a C47TP crashed in a mountainous region near Nelson Mandelas residence, with 11 fatalities and nil survivors. I didn't realise that the South African Air Force was still flying the C47. According to Wikipedia they operate nine and all have been converted to turboprop (C47TP).
Fairly sure all ex RNZAF aircraft after PT6 etc conversion went to the USA ' The crashed C47TP was 6840 cn13866 ex KG767 It was en route to Mthatha airport where on 7th November 6877 cn11925 also aC47 TP was badly damaged in a landing accident No injuries ,just the Female pilots pride .
