NZ4515 5448 PV-1 Bu33439. Assembled at Oahu and BOC with Unit 19, Whenuapai on 10 July 1943. To No.1 Squadron, Whenuapai. To No.2 GR Squadron, Ohakea by September 1943. Ferried to Guadalcanal departing Whenuapai on 20 October 1943. To Guadalcanal. Returned to New Zealand on 20/21 May 1944. With No.1 OTU, Ohakea by June 1944. No records of disposal. My fourth RNZAF PV-1 Ventura this year, NZ4515 at Piva, Bougainville in May 1944 just prior to returning to New Zealand. I have assumed she was repainted in NZ Blue Sea Grey/NZ Sky earlier rather than later [possibly even prior to leaving NZ?] and the paintwork is quite faded and weathered after 7 months operations in the tropics. The build is on www.kiwimodeller.com in RNZAF 75th Anniversary Group Build with more pictures in the Build Gallery of that forum. (I will get the hang of photobucket some day and post more pictures here, sorry) Revell 1/48 kitset (with the starboard rear fuselage window repositioned though not perfectly accurately yet ... nek time), Color of Eagles & Aeromaster self-mixed acrylics brush painted, Ventura decals. Thanks for looking Wally. PS - "No records of disposal" ... I wonder what happened to her? Attachments:

PV-1 Ventura NZ4515 flew on 17 May 1944 on operations from Piva. Departed Piva at 0800hrs on air-sea rescue work in Rabaul area. Mission was 5hrs 30 mins. Pilot was F/O Miller. This info is from my father's (Leo O'Sullivan) flying logbook. He was on board as wireless operator & air gunner. That flight completed his 2nd tour. I thought this info might be of some interest.
