Yes, I have AutoCad on my machine here at work and a similar program at home - a free prog. Can I help? Can pm or email me - my email is listed. Plus I have a drawing office available for "special community projects" They are more skilled than i am... Daytime email is available too but via pm only. They can work in 3D if necessary using a recent upgrade to "Inventor".

Received and answered - it all seems feasible for manipulating dirty or old drawings already scanned into a jpg, then vectorising with special program and saving as DXF, editing in drafting prog and dimensioning from same. Saving as pdf for distribution and sharing.
The boys have also used pdfs straight in to a new drawing as a background layer, and drawn over the top manually with a different colour, then deleting the background layer - a bit slow but more for NTS drawings.

I contacted my Finnish friends and they can help, response below.... I took a quick look for our Ripon drawings, about half of them are State aircraft factorys modification or schematic drawings. But there are also original structure drawings for wings and fuselage etc.. I think these could be very useful. Hi Dave, I've dropped you a PM. Paul.

Ok, we are now on the hunt for parts, bits and pieces for the 580hp Bristol Pegasus II.M3 radial engine that powered the RNZAF Baffins. Don & Steve have some bits for the engine but not all. So anything that could be found would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Paul.

Does the project have books on the engine?

aircraftclocks. We do have Pegasus Manuals as they are virtually the same engine as in the Vildebeest and Vincent.

I just asked, as the AP for the engine is in the local state library and has been since 1931.

Wonder what else they got in there that's interesting? Sounds like a good library to have a nose in.

Shamus (Don) ? Still looking for a Vild\Vincent prop ? The owner of the one down in Thames has fallen into ill health in recent years, he may want to part with it.... he also thinks its the last one in the world and worth a million dollars. Also hear of one down in Hamilton (another Ex ATC wall display)

Shamus isn't Don but he'll certainly pass your message on to Don. Thanks. Paul.

Hi, kiwiwreckdiver and paul. Thanks for your info regarding the Vilde/Vincent prop. I personally have one and I know that Don has at least two. I also know of several around the country so not as rare as most people think. A few RSA's have them as wall mounts.

Rotorua RSA has one on their wall. And Classic Flyers at Tauranga has a half-prop.

About 15 years ago when my son was in the ATC in 35 Sqn in Whakatane there were I think two props in the hall used by the Kawerau ATC . One of these I was told was from a Baffin . I have no idea what became of them .

Slowly. We understand that the Blackburn archives are at BAE Brough which is the old Blackburn site. However the Blackburn records were not systematically archived with large sections randomly destroyed. The RAF Museum has copies of the APs pertaining to the Baffin and the Finns have a restored Ripon and drawings for their Ripon. Talks are underway with the RAF Museum and the Finns to see if we can acquire copies of the APs and the Ripon drawings.

Just received from the RAF Museum are 3 manuals on the Baffin. The drawings from Finland have been copied and due to be sent soon. And a special request from Don, he needs a volunteer,to go to Little Pigeon Bay and do another search for items that may be still there. For example, Sir Bruce Stewart's farm dump.
