INTO THE BLUE is an air power conference dealing with both historical and current issues to mark the 70th Birthday of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the 20th Anniversary of the Air Force Museum.
WHEN: Friday 30th March to Sunday 1st April 2007
WHERE: Air Force Museum, Harvard Avenue, Wigram, Christchurch
The INTO THE BLUE conference brings together international and New Zealand speakers presenting papers on air power past, present, and future. Speakers include Group Captain Neville Parton, Director of Defence Studies RAF (The RAF-RNZAF relationship), Dr Chris Clark the RAAF Historian (Dominion Air Forces on the eve of WWII), academics from Britain and the USA and renowned local historians such as Vincent Orange (Sir John Slessor) and Ian McGibbon (The RNZAF and the Vietnam War).
The programme commences on the evening of Friday 30th March with a meet and greet supper. The conference proper commences on Saturday 31st with an opening address by Chief of Air Force AVM Graham Lintott and a second full day of papers will be given on Sunday 1st April. The optional conference dinner will be held in the Air Force Museum’s main Aircraft Hall and during the course of the conference there will be plenty of opportunity to experience the aircraft and exhibits of this world class Museum.
There has never been a conference of this type in New Zealand before and the limited number of places will fill fast.
