I am in Wellington on holiday, and we have an awesome view out the window at the port. Yesterday and today we have watched a small ship unloading land rovers, hagglunds with what seem to be generators on the back, and large unimog sized (but not unimogs) trucks, all painted in dark forest green paint. Yesterday 3 hagglunds with trailers, and two of the unimog sized trucks and one land rover left on the back of PTS trucks. The ship is called the HARTWIG SCAN, and it may have come from Singapore. I can't find any info about it, even from the Wellington port, so was wondering if anyone here knows about it. I'm wondering if maybe it is just army surplus equipment from Singapore... I have emailed the shipping company to see if they will tell me...

I saw them today on Aotea quay, both SP 155mm howitzers and towed 155mm hows. The SP looked like an updated M109 and the towed 155s looked like FH-2000s. I'm an ex-Brit Gunner who trained on QF 25-pdrs, so all this new stuff looks just a bit flash.

Well the NZ army is suppose to have their artillery support capability ugraded/replaced from memory. So maybe these are some pieces of equipment for trial?

A pic of equipment being unloaded in todays Dom-Post. Singapore Army on holiday again. When they were here two years ago they manned the lines around Central Christchurch.

Darn they invaded over Christmas while the defence force was on leave. As the PM is away overseas again on holiday I guess the Duty Cabinet Minister must have decided to surrender without a fight.
