Can anyone please help me to fill in the gaps for my Airshow Archive on this particular airshow? I need to know the following details please:

Was P-40K Kittyhawk ZK-PXL displayed by Phil Murray? Or someone else at this show?

Was Zero replica ZK-ZRO displayed by Simon Spencer-Bower or someone else at this show?

Who flew the No. 75 Squadron solo Skyhawk display? And which A-4K was it?

Who were the crew members of Andover NZ7623 that displayed?

Which Macchi was it that came up from Wide Owl at Timaru to display, and who was the pilot?

Who was the Red Checkers Reserve pilot for this show, anyone know?

Regarding the Red Checkers I have Airtrainer NZ1935 flown by Ian McClelland, NZ1947 by Phil Murray and NZ1938 by Phil Wilson. What were the other three aircraft serials, and who flew which (the other two pilots in the display were Pete Cochran and Ron Thacker. I cannot find photos with names on the cowls. Also I note that the reserve was swapped for NZ1935 for Ian McClelland at some stage.

Who flew which of the four Chipmunks? I have pilots as Ian Reynolds who was sadly killed in one marked 59 (I think), Simon Spenser-Bower, Jerry Chisum and Grant Bissett, but what were each pilot's ZK- rego?

Who were the crews of Devon ZK-UDO and Dakota ZK-DAK at this airshow?

Richmond Harding, Don Judd and Bruce Harding flew the Fletcher team dsipaly. What were their respective Fletcher's ZK- regos?

Who flew the Cresco and what was it's rego?

Who displayed the Grumman Ag-cat and what was its rego?

Who displayed Isaacs Fury II replica ZK-JHR?

Who was the display pilot or crew for Lodestar 'Flew The Coop'?

There were ten Harvards flying together at this airshow. They included ZK-ZK-ENF, ENG, WAR, ENJ and ENK flown by the Roaring Forties Team. However which were the other five Harvards and who flew them in the ten-ship formation?

Did Percival Prentice ZK-DJC actually fly in the display or was it static?

Who flew th Pilatus Turbo Porter and what was its rego?

Did Richard Hood fly ZK-PTO in his Pitts aerobatic display or did he fly another Pitts?

What was the rego of Bruce Drake's Schleicher ASW 24 glider

Who flew Fokker Triplane ZK-FOK, SE5A replica ZK-TOM and Sikorsky S55 ZK-HSB?

Dave,

Don't take this as Gospel, but looking at the official Warbirds over Wanaka 1994 Book and DVD, as well as John Dibbs' book 'Flying Legends', it appears that the AFC P-40K is being flown by John Lamont.

Perhaps someone can confirm?

I'll suggest that the Cessna 152 was Cessna 150 ZK-DNO flown by Mat Wakelin, but that'll need checking.

I'll see if I can check the logbooks for ZK-UDO in the new year unless someone beats me to an answer (Jim Pavitt and/or Mat Wakelin and/or Paul Jones are likely).

The official book has the Cessna as a 152 Aerobat.

Hi Dave,

Don't know how I remember this since I was 10 at this show, but Richard flew MAD for the solo display, I think it was Grant Bisset in PTO for the race against the Britten Motorbike.
He may have alternated between EES (S1) and MAD (S2B) over the two days, I only saw the sunday display!

Brings back memories, PTO was one pretty Pitts, wrong colours for fabric of course though.

I won the draw for the aerobatic flight with Grant Bisset in the Pitts at Warbirds Over Wanaka in 1994. Well, I won by default after the person whose name was drawn didn't claim his prize at the commentary bus within the required time, so they re-drew it and my name was pulled out. From memory, entry into the draw was free. I took my flight on the Easter Monday and told Grant to "go for it hard, because they haven't yet invented the device which can give me motion sickness" so he did, including lots of negative Gs. Just before he took me up for that flight, he did his first flight in a P-51 (Trevor Bland signed him off for that), so he was on a huge buzz by the time he took me flying.

I flew MAD both days with John Kelly flying EES, John of course now flys in the roaring forties Harvard team.
Sadly Phil Murray passed away a few weeks ago.

Looked at the 1994 book and see it was C152 ZK-NSF, no mention of the pilot but still pretty sure it would have been Mat Wakelin, he was doing a dead-stick aerobatic routine at the time.

Couldn't find the details of the Devon crew.
