I thought it looked much better than the original from 1945 actually. I am trying to think what that british cargo plane is with the ramp down but tail wheel off the ground.

The RAF used several captured German transports (Junkers Ju290s or Ju 252s) for moving enemy aircraft from Europe for evaluation immediately postwar. Nothing in the RAF inventory had a suitable rear loading door - the experience with the captured German transports started the allies thinking when it came to designing postwar military airlifters.

252 is correct. If they'd made it a high wing and put on nose gear they would have had a C130.

The worst colour schemes on warbirds I have seen are the Charles Church Spitifre in Ford paint, the CAF Wildcat in mock FAA colours, and the pink P-40. Thankfully there are no longer in those colours.

The Electric Mayhem, Dave ;-)
And bad news-good news on Sue Parrish's pink P-40: still pink, but now static.

I that the personal transport enterage of the Doctor Teeth Band from the Muppets? Not sure, but the person who came up with that paint job is a Muppet.

I believe that one is still around - repainted - and he was killed in his first "production line" Mk.V, I think it was EE602? EDIT Mk.Vc "EE606": www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1373034/

OK. I knew he was sadly killed in a Spitfire. I didn't know he had several.

From what I know he set up a production line to restore/build them, however his death put an end to the programme. petera could perhaps fill us in on the story when he returns from Myanmar?

This would have to be the WORST restoration paint job ever. Mike Spaulding spent $1.5M on this plane and then for some reason decided that he better combine a desert colour scheme with the markings of both Sqn. Leader Richard Cresswell and Geoffrey Atherton. What was he thinking?
