According to the AHSNZ Journal dated 6th of May 1968, the Outward Bound organisation held an Outward Bound Spectacular airshow at Ardmore on the 12th of February 1968.
A notable inclusion in the line up was this, as quoted from the report: "...and another visitor was "Steve Tracey of the Thunderbirds" who arrived dangling from the end of a rope attached to a helicopter. Steve was played by the inmitable Captain F P Ladd."
Was anyone on the forum in attendance? Did you see Fred Ladd as a Thunderbird? Any photos??
Haha, it sounds classic!

Yes I was in attendance. My first commercial flights after obtaining my Commercial. Flew Cessna 172 for Auckland Aero club on joyriding. I play golf at Warkworth with the person who organised the whole show. Ivan Emirali was well up in Outward Bound. He quite often talks about that show and the co operation he had with Vic Roberts, the aerodrome superintendent. As an aside Ivan won the C Grade stroke play Championship at Warkworth last year. He was 87 at the time, his caddie, who also still plays was 87, the runner up was a youngster at age 72 and his caddie was 84.

The article reckoned they raised around $10,000 through the gate, that would have been a big sum back then in 1968, wouldn't it?
