For an RNZAF Avenger?
The wartime RNZAF Avengers (apart from target tugs) were all in the US Navy three tone scheme with white undersides, medium blue sides and dark blur top surfaces.
None wore olive drab, dark sea grey and sky camo.

OK, that is the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, nothing to do with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, which this board is all about.

where do you advise me to search in new zealand for what i need?glad you clarified the difference and thanks for assistance. Was there a difference during the war between "land based, sea based" command etc. What was the reason for the roundels with the white stripe and without? Corsairs where both land and carrier based, did they both carry roundels with and without the white stripe?

You have a great eye for detail - NZ2506 was a TBF-1, while the other two are TBF-1c's and someone else on here will give you a more detailed explanation.

I do tend to not look at the main focus of the picture I'm always looking at the background or for inconsistencies. Drives the wife nuts!

Yes Nooby, that is a flame supressor afixed to end of exhaust pipe (or stack to Americans), not often seen on RNZAF aircraft, but any type of WW2 aircraft may be seen from time to time with various types of exhasut flame supressors whould these be considered desirable. David D
