Auster ownership seems to be spreading on this forum, maybe it's a computer virus, haha. I never realised there were so many around NZ, they are like Cessnas, everywhere.

Auster ownership seems to be spreading on this forum, maybe it's a computer virus, haha. I never realised there were so many around NZ, they are like Cessnas, everywhere. Most of the Auster population is in the South Island so you're safe Dave ha ha. Until the later Cessnas and Pipers came along Austers were the aircraft of choice alongside the Tigers and Cubs, etc but with farmers they were loved, short strip performance, chuck a few dogs in or fence posts and wire and go off to the outer parts of your farm for a days work. Yes Anthony's and I seem to have "infected" a few on here!

And to enable our cunning plan to reach the masses when the Austers are airborne we will commence broadcasting our sales pitch from above! First stop: Cambridge!

John King wrote a short piece redefining/creating some phrases about Austers in NZ Wings. The most appropriate to mention here are probably: AUSTERITY: financial situation brought about by association with aeroplanes or maybe AUSTERACISED: acceptable to neither the vintage nor the modern aircraft devotees. I hope the final price was not too AUSTRONOMICAL (the full article is here: www.pacificwingsmagazine.com/content/redefining-austers )
