An associate through the local IPMS Branch supplied me with these prints some years back and I have commenced scanning my collection recently and thought they may provide some interest to the group. rides.webshots.com/album/558566932VNPOum. With the move from Wigram to Ohakea in 1993 it became apparent that a new colour scheme would be beneficial and with the fleet requiring a repaint the opportunity was taken to evaluate the various one colour schemes. First to be completed, in late 1994, was NZ 1938 in the overall yellow scheme, this was followed in March by NZ 1941 in a black scheme and final by NZ 1937 in overall white. Late 1195 these three aircraft and a standard two tone aircraft were flown on sorties to assess the visibility of the schemes against a variety of backgrounds. Single "intercept" sorties were also flown with with each aircraft vectored towards an observation aircraft. Maintenance needs for each scheme were also taking into account before the final decision was made.

Yes, the CT/4 in RNZAF service is colloquially known as the Plastic Rat. It's a play on the Aussie nickname for them of Plastic Parrot. When first in service the RAAF ones were green and yellow and looked like parrots. Ours were grey and orange, and I think the grey is where our nickname derived from.
I cannot get your page to open either Mark. I'd love to see the shots, and also your photos jenks please.

Steve, please do post the pic of the "banana", always keen to add to my collection.
The majority of the photos were taken for a friend by someone based at Ohakea, and from memory the pictures of "37"with the yellow panels taken by myself when it attended a Wise Owl Camp in Timaru.
The names on the original photos are also difficult to read, will post data if I can locate a better magnifying glass

;D I like that artwork. It's not often you see 'noseart' on the tail end.

The "'Nana" artwork was still on the aircraft when it was retired - I recall seeing it when '38 came through Aeromotive for reconditioning. - I wonder of the Sidestick control the rat is using is related to the F16 deal?
