India has initiated an investigation into allegations of bribery involved in its acquistion of 12 AW101 Merlin for its VVIP flights. In Italy the chairman and chief executive Giuseppe Orsi of Finmeccanica has been arrested by Italian police investigating bribery and kickback allegations. They have also placed the head of Augusta Westland under house arrest.
