An International Fleet Review is to be conducted in Sydney (and Jervis Bay practice) between 3 and 11 October 2013 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the first entry into Sydney harbour of the Royal Australian Navy's Fleet. International participants are to include the home fleet, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Chile, China (People's Liberation Army Navy), Indonesia, Italy, New Zealand, Japan, Portugal, Spain. In conjunction with the Review it is proposed to hold a Ceremonial Flypast and Salute together with a series of displays from the completion of the Review until sunset on 5th October. All visiting nations have/shall be invited to participate. These displays shall also include civilian organisations. It is anticipated that some 40 visiting ships and 12 tall ships shall be present.
The display flying by the various participating nations/organisations is planned to commence at 1430 and to extend in 15 minute blocks until 1801. Aircraft that can demonstrate an unusual capability will be given preference and not all aircraft can be guaranteed an opportunity to perform. The end of the displays will co-incide with a spectacular pyrotechnic and light show.
This should be a very special and spectacular event. Having regard to recent events one could only speculate as to the participating vessels (and possibly aircraft) from Russia and China.
