I love that, "on time delivery, 3 years late"
So by the time ours arrive in 2022, any further engine and other problems that arise will be ironed out and we should have a very good period up to IOC

I think our lt will want them before 2022. I think they were looking at starting to replace hercs around 2018, so I would presume they would want first aircraft around then.

I thought with the delays with the LEP project, they would be delaying the dates, but the more you push them back you start to get into time frames with regards P3 replacement, and maybe frigates too.

The more I look at this the better it looks....I see it can carry one NH-90....so would be more comfortable in housing a LAV...would these replace the Hercules on a one for one basis or would we see a watered down number because of costs?

And you want an accurate answer now..... hang on just pick myself up off the floor. That is one question only a few people would make in the coming years.
Depends how much oil we find off the coast and how much we sell the All Blacks to China for.

We may have an idea late next year after the air transport capability study is finished. It'll lift an NZLAV no probs. 30 tonnes for 2450 nautical mile range and 20 tonnes for 3450 nautical mile range. The NZLAV is around 17 tonnes. www.airbusmilitary.com/Aircraft/A400M/A400MAbout.aspx

Bit of an overkill for SATS. Would be nice for us plane spotters but the C295 for SATS would be ok.

2022? It won't need to lift a LAV then, we won't have any.
