Was my first time at Classic Fighters and have to say it was pretty impressive. The ground setup, the fly-in, fly-out process, public facilities all well organised and plentiful. My fav part was Keith Skilling's first, low pass to start the Corsair Display. I was parked behind the Anson all day on Saturday and to see how low he got crossing the threshold for 12 and then bank around the Anson to fly past the gold stand at terrific speed was something I'll remember for a long time.
Pretty proud to see Sam Estall display the Iroquois so well, Sam is an ex-cadet of 13 Sqn ATC in Napier when I was there in the early 00's.
If anyone got a pic of ZK-NAC arriving/departing Saturday, I'd be keen to see it.

My fav part was Keith Skilling's first, low pass to start the Corsair Display. First time I saw that was 2 shows ago ( mabey 3 ) . It was the opening act . They distracted the crowd with two aircraft approaching from the front , then at the last second the Corsair blasts past from behind ( in the same fashion as the pass you mention ) . Truely spectacular !

Some of my photos from Thursday - first my fantastic flight down to Omaka from Hamilton with the Fly DC3 crew in ZK-DAK. A rubbish shot but it was an exciting moment, the DC-3 arriving at Hamilton to pick some of us up! The flight deck Glass Cockpit Captain Geoff Cooper First Officer Stu Wards Marlborough

That's where the Freighter had been parked near the Historic Centre. We reckoned we should dig it all up and strain the oil out and put it back in the oil tank. ;D Nice behind the scenes shots Dave, there is a great video of Als' engine run (well one of them) on Youtube from the show.

Bloody good job Graham, and everyone else involved with the show. I was extremely impressed and entertained- the only bad thing about the whole weekend was the damned weather. Can't really pick out the best thing about the whole affair, but highlights for me were the 757, and the Focke-Wulf (LOVE that grunty, snarly engine). The two Yaks were very pretty to watch, partly because they simply looked like they were having a lot of fun. Good to see the mandatory Natter explosion at the end as well as the brave Tiger crew fighting their last stand on the field (had a funny moment at the end when a German re-enactor fired off his last 5 or so clips at the aircraft taking off for the big flypast). World war one scenario was good as usual, I never get tired of watching the confusing scene of 15 or so canvas machines held together by wood and string zoom around the airfield while the artillery and archie fires on the ground (great work with the 'flaming oinions', pyro people!). Lovely aerobatics as usual, have to say I liked the Harvards the most out of the three teams simply for the noise factor . I have to say of all the show the thing that most caught my attention was that magnificent dive and fast pass from the right that the Corsair executed wonderfully. Gets me every year. Perhaps next time I'll be able to get a gold pass seat and mix it with the rest of you big shots on the forum. On a final note, Classic Fighters is the reason I am here on these forums, and the reason I have saved up (so far) 600 dollars to learn to fly. It is not only a privelege to be able to watch but a great tool for getting young people interested in aviation. With that in mind I'd like to personally and sincerely thank everyone involved with the show, and also everyone who brings their aircraft that have taken so much money and so much time. It is an honour to watch this history fly before my eyes.

Can anyone tell me more about the Tiger I, looks pretty authentic, size tracks, wheels etc. Presume it had a problem with the tracks being off. Is it fibreglass, wood, powerplant?
Sorry to be off topic but what an awesome machine!

Sorry to be off topic but what an awesome machine! Its a Weta Workshop replica, made of wood in the outer shell but even up close it looks like its the real deal. Peter Jackson owns it I think?

well that weekend went by fast! What a fantastic show, I don't know how they manage not only to maintain their high standards but to top themselves each time... I'm not surprised to read that Graham opened the file on 2015 already! Always a pleasure to catch up with forum members & great to have met a few more this time round. Love the new cap & am looking forward to wearing the t'shirt soon Was also very pleased with my new 'toy' - as Baz mentioned I bought a new camera for the show & it performed well. It's basically a point & shoot on steroids - I still have to become proficient in using it but I managed to fluke some shots that I am quite chuffed with Only down side was that I took over 1000 photos & now have to sort them & upload to photobucket. I am hoping the photo editing software that came with the camera does the job. I can see that with some judicious cropping a few ho hum pics will look amahzing.

Great photos. Did they have restoration row this year? If so, any pictures of it?

Great photos. Did they have restoration row this year? If so, any pictures of it? Yes and not sure if Teresa has some photos, but if not I'm sure someone has a photo or two. Here's one of the things we enjoyed at the show catching up with friends and other forum members and enjoying the spectacle together. Left to right, Grant(Lumpy), Me(baz62) and Anthony(agalbraith) And sharing a laugh. We were standing by the Skyhawk after the Sunday show. Doug's Tr9. Tacka Tacka Tacka Tacka!!!!! And Frank in the FW190 doing the same. And not to be left out, Bill Reid's beautiful Anson! It was certainly being chucked around a lot this time. This aircraft is no dray that's for sure. "Break Left!" "My left or your left?" Yep he's hoofing it here! "I don't care WHAT the Fuhrer said I am NOT going up in this rocket powered deathtrap!" Doug in a flat inverted spin! I'll post some more later on.

Great shots!! That Anson was sure showing off..... I didn't see her do that at Masterton! Made me laugh to see her at that angle, someone having fun... The country aerodrome Airshows certainly don't lack for variety and the freedom to put the planes through their paces in good view of all. Thanks for sharing the action!
