It will be interesting to see how long it takes to issue it to the rest of the defence force. I note that the article in the Army news states it will go to 1NZ Bd and 1NZSAS first, then from October next year to the rest of the regular force, although it's not clear whether that is NZDF Regular force or just army regular force.

Soldiers testing new camouflage gear, guns The New Zealand Defence Force's new combat uniforms and weapons are being put to the test in a four-day urban warfare exercise. Soldiers are trying out the new multi-terrain camouflage uniforms, and using recently purchased light support machine guns, while testing urban combat tactics at Rotorua's Army's combat school. The new weapon gives soldiers a higher level of capability and replaces the old 5.56mm C9 light machine gun. Certainly looks about a million % better than the crap clothing we had in the late 1970's. The wet-weather gear was so useless that we would take our own parkas, etc. on weekend exercises. Even a wet suit worn underwater would be drier than the army parkas. Mind you, I did like the range and power of the FN SLR.

These are the new NZDF field uniforms, replacing DPMs across all three services, this thread would be better off in the NZDF section.

The ATC has been approved to wear the current DPM as a working dress uniform. Awaiting stock to appear with the roll out of the new multicam.

It's funny reading the articles in the army news about the new uniform vs DPM. DPM is apparently great in the jungles of the pacific, but no use in places like Afghanistan.
Now we've finished in Afghanistan and are refocusing on the the south west pacific, we are replacing our uniform that is ideal in jungle uniform with one ideal for Afghanistan.
Nothing like being a bit late to the party.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday when reading this thread, Phil. I hope they keep the DPM uniforms in storage.
