Nice shots mate. It nice to be able to these sort of images from around the different areas without beng able to go etc. That first shot of the Eurofighter. Thats the plastic display model I see the Aussies are showing off their E7 quite a bit these days.

Gripen was Royal Thai Airforce, RTAF pilot was rather ballsy the way he flew her close to the deck. The Gripen basically replaced their A-7s a few years back.

Thanks, I didn't know the Thais had bought them. I still think the Gripen would be a great combat jet for NZ.

Yep agree with you all the way even more so after watching a handling demo of them low level, can only imagine what the Gripen NG would be like pretty much the same leap from a F18A to a F18E in capability according to a mate of mine working for SAAB.

Yes agree with Don, Didn't know they had them either. I knew they had F16's. Are they theirs in those images or the Singaporeans ones as they seem to be the latest block models, with the enlarged spine and conformal tanks. Just wondering if the conformals could have been fitted to our earlier models. ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr helen

Love the MiG-29s; most aesthetically pleasing jet fighters of all in my opinion.

Thanks, I didn't know the Thais had bought them. I still think the Gripen would be a great combat jet for NZ. The Swedes are selling them for US$40 million and will negotiate. The Thais got a good deal that includes time payment and a SAAB 340 AEW. They offered them to the Bulgarians at the same price as the used F16s the Bulgarians were buying. The Swedish govt have just approved funding for the Gripen NG which will be the Gripen E. I think 60 aircraft are being funded.

Awesome pics mate, thanks for posting.
On the Gripen for NZ note, how awesome would it be if there was an announcement that the RNZAF are getting the Gripen NG form a new ACF? Not only that but the technology transfer in terms of limited parts manufacture and design as well as maintenance proves to be a boom to our economy and has the added advantage of slowing the brain drain due to having a large global company set up shop here and provide work for New Zealanders.

Yes it would be especially if somebody like Safe Air was on board. However sorry to be a nay sayer but our pollies don't see things that way. I note that the Gripen uses the same engine as the F18F, the GE F414. I wonder who does the RAAF GE engine work? There is a really good engine shop at ChCh, the ChCh Engine Centre thats a Pratt & Whitney / Air NZ concern. So I do think we have the expertise here to run a good Gripen repair and maintenace centre for the Asia Pacific, African Middle Eastern, & South American regions.
