Whilst staying my relatives I visited The Secret Bunker in Fife near Dundee . This was a bunker originally built as part of the British Air defence network for the cold war and then it became a place where the local government would be run in the event of a nuclear attack on the UK. As someone who grew up in the height of the cold war and who saw movies like Threads, The War Game and The Day After ( We watched Threads for social studies in school) it was interesting seeing one of these bunkers in the flesh and imaging what life would had have like had the bomb went up (if you're ex RNZAF, don't those blankets look familiar ) to . As well as the Bunker itself there is a small collections of vehicles including a SA-2 and some armoured cars. After visiting it my son and I took off to RAF Leuchars to see if we could catch some Typhoons. The weather was awful but we got there just in time to see 4 Typhoons taking off into the wet. Here's a link to the slideshow [/u] with all the images

I went there in 2005, an interesting place, off the B940 west of Crail. From a distance, it was just another farm house. There is another one recently saved, I think around Stirling. By searching Cold War bunkers, more can be found, even more in England. Also of interest is the workings around the Bath-Chippenham area which were converted into World War Two factories and later MOD storage sites.
