It must have been a really huge spectacle for the people of Christchurch in those days of 1934! I wonder if there are any photos of them in the air.
Fine Formation Flying. The finest formation flying seen over Christchurch for a number of years took place when the nine machines of No. 3 (Bombing) Squadron, New Zealand Air Force, flew over the city and Lyttelton, says the "Star."
The pilots kept their machines in place perfectly and their turning movements were carried out without loss of formation. Considering that various types of machines were used, imposing greater, difficulties on pilots than would be the case if they were all of the same kind, the demonstration was excellent.
