If you look at the photo which shows the buildings and the jetty opposite what used to be the HQ building, you will note there is a gap in the jetty walkway. This is where a Fairmile boat ended up over the top of the piles and jetty during the Wahine storm. I have a photo of it sitting on the bottom with a piling through the rear of the boat. The Wahine storm was my introduction day to "Windy Wellington" what an understatement

Well let's hope they finally get on do something with the site. The Hobsonville redevelopment is a good example of what actually can be achieved with the correct planning.

The main problem with the Shelly Bay development is that there are too many people with "interests" in the future of the site, ranging from the Wellington City Council, the Wellington Harbour board, local Iwi and influencial property developers. One can only hope as pepe says an outcome that suits the city will evolve.
