On the 14th of June 1923 the New Zealand Permanent Air Force was established as a full time air force, and the New Zealand Air Force (Territorial) was formed as its territorial arm which had annual refresher camps. Both were under the administration of the New Zealand Army, and the Air Force base at that time was at Sockburn, which became Wigram Air Base. A significant anniversary for New Zealand.
