Heard a report on National Radio today that Rick Gillespie and TIGHAR are being sued by one of their major sponsors. They claim that the group discovered the remains of Earharts Electra in 2010 but have kept the find secret to increase their ability to raise money

Hahahaha, brilliant, this sad story gets better and better. I thought it was funny enough last year when they claimed they'd found Earhart's jar of vanishing cream!

I heard some news recently that Amelia's remains are buried in Burma, alongside 300 brand new Spitfires........

Is that also alongside the B17 with all them gold bars in it too............... What a load of old cobblers! Everyone knows it is the buried B-24 that has the gold bars in it: the B-17 has the silver bars in it.

Photos held by the Air Force Museum at Wigram may hold evidence to the location of Amelia Earharts crash site and subsequent fate. Full article on The Press website.

Yet another meaningless 'story' pumped up by TIGHAR. Photos from 1938 'may reveal' freck all.

Huh? So he's found some photos taken of an atoll a year before she disappeared. I'm confused, how the hell would that help?

I guess some TIGHAR guy gets a trip to NZ funded by the US Govt though. Nice.

I think you will find that the search is privately funded (hence the previous post about the benefactor threatening to sue) Sounds like you are very cynical Dave? Not sour grapes I hope?

They got big funding from the US Government not too long ago, signed over personally by Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State.
Why would I have sour grapes? I'm not sure of your angle here Shorty.
Cynical, maybe. I'll admit I think the entire hunt for this woman and her aircraft is completely pointless. Even in the slimmest chance they find the aircraft wreckage they'll still never conclusively prove how and why she and her crew member died. And worse than that, their PR stunts that come up so regularly are pure bullshit in my opinion.
Whoever is funding the search, they're mugs.

Does that make Gavin Grimmer, and whoever else has spent a lot of money and resources trying to find ZK-AFB, mugs also?

Ah, right - this statement in the Press article was extremely misleading "They believe the photos show where Earhart's plane went down, over a year later."
It reads like the plane disappeared over a year after the photos were taken.

I have to laugh at the Daily Fail's link code, making it sound so positive

Yes I am still suspending any belief in the truthfulness over it. If they find human remains on the island I think I'd be wanting DNA evidence to support any suppisition as to who belonged to the bones, given the history of previous searches and claims.
