I have recently discovered the excellent BBC World series "Witness" in which the team presents mini-documentaries on important happenings in history from and eye-witness's point of view. The series is archived so you can go back through all the shows, and they are all downloadable as podcasts.

This is a stunningly good series, well worth listening to for its wide variety of topics. But of special interest there are many that have aviation or wartime stories as their theme.
