There was an Australian Cessna 210 VH-ZIO that went through Lord Howe a few weeks ago on it's way to NZ. I know the pilot who brought it over to do a mapping survey. Did you happen to see/photograph it by any chance, planecrazy? Yeah mate, try to get them all but miss the odd one, only pic I took of this one, sometimes work gets in the way of play dam-it! If you happen to remember the date and pilots name and he doesn't mind, could you post it up here? Thank you. I saw VH-ZIO at Hamilton again just before New Years eve. I spoke to the pilot and he'd just flown it back over the ditch (his third crossing), it's due for some work in NZ over the summer before returning to Australia.

It's been based out of Ardmore for the last month or so, seems to be keeping quite busy.

It's been based out of Ardmore for the last month or so, seems to be keeping quite busy. A couple of the pilots are Waikato Aviation trained blokes (one was even a C-cat instructor there). They are doing a lot of coffee drinking waiting for clear skies (Thanks, Aussie bushfires....) They are tasked with doing photography of most major cities over both islands, operating at about 10,000' to 12,000' Here are a couple of flights from December. Looks like Auckland and SH1 going south getting some good coverage...

Be on the lookout for a Cirrus SR-22 VH-FER heading across the Tasman towards NZ. Some local pilots I know have purchased it and it is crossing the ditch to its new home today.

Just coming out of the eye right now, wind is now freshening from the west but doesn't look as strong as last night.
Damage, quite a few trees down around the place, heard of a garage being taken out a few skylights and roofing lifted with water damage. Every one here is pretty prepared for blows, we get pretty full on gales every winter from the sou-west. No injuries from what I've been told, thank goodness!
Was pretty full on last night, we didn't get much sleep you could hear the roar and then you would get the gust, all things considered we have done okay so far.
Thank you for your thoughts folks, much appreciated.

Here's a good one, got caught out by this one heading east on Norfolk Island right now, Pitts S-2C (VH-XSC) hesitate to guess the first time a Pitts has crossed the Tasman Sea? Was working so this was the best I could get, better that nothing I guess! The other day the entire Qantas Dash8 200 fleet on the island, no room on the apron so one had to wait on the runway while the other was turned around!

Busy day at Lord Howe with 3 Dash 8's! I've never heard of a Pitts doing long overwater flights like that. I assumed that being so small they wouldn't have the legs to travel far on one fuel tamk, but obviously it must have a good size fuel tank or has extra tankage.

Yeah three Dash 8's is busy, I have seen 4 on the ground with another in the circuit a few years ago! Re the Pitts, I was working when I took the picture and couldn't get close, saw the fuel chap and pilot checking out the front seat area and if you zoom in my pic it looks like something is in there so guessing she had extra fuel in the front seat area. Worked it out I am pretty sure this is only the fifth biplane to transit the Tasman via Lord Howe Island, happy to be corrected? Going to did through my pic's and see if I can find all five?! Edit correction the sixth as I forgot about the Tiger Moth!
