Some more from my stash, copied slides so sorry for the quality. The DH Beaver. Some more modern DH types. You don’t see this one very often, an Australian customs Dash 8 200, as you can see she has some extra bits hanging off her, I have asked but they won’t let me inside this one, very protective! Notice she is painted to look like a Qantas Dash 8. A couple of brothers in arms, from the same factory, you can see the lineage. Poor quality sorry, one of the Dash 8 300s that end up with the ill fated Ansett New Zealand.

What does Australian Customs use that airliner for, out of interest?

She has no seats all this hocus-pocus surveillance stuff in her, she's painted to look like a Qantas Dash 8 to disguise her from a distance. Someone up to something they shouldn't thinks she's Qantas when really she's taking pictures of you capturing something you shouldn't be doing!
Notice how she has various domes and antennas attached to her, I have asked, politely, if I could have a look inside and been told, politely, that I can't!

Small Fishing Boats and similar, Dave. There are also Dorniers as well. They are operated by contractors and I'm not sure if they are owned or chartered by the operator. One company has recently completed it's contract and the staff all finished up. A new company will take over hiring staff.

Yes, some of the stuff they do, not as far away from base, but a lot cheaper.

The Royal Australian Navy Ship Melbourne showed up today, onboard her S-70B-2 Seahawk, they where testing some new antennas, you can just see a small orange bracket in front of the windscreen where they are mounted. The boys kindly came over nice and close on departure. The antenna bracket is more obvious in this pic.

Some days are just great, in 26 years living on Lord Howe island I have had a bit of a quest. I have wished and waited for the day when a pic of one of the ex RNZAF Harvards passing through the island would appear before my eyes! This morning my quest was fulfilled, NZ1061 on Lord Howe Island on her way to a new home in Australia. Turns out I also would have seen this machine in service as I remember the day they retired as a young lad my dad took me to see there last flight over Christchurch, where I grew up, NZ1061 flew in that final flyby formation. On 24/6/77 she was sold and registered as ZK-ENH, took off from Auckland on 15/4/79. So guessing these pic’s would have been taken not long after this date. You can just see alongside where I have attempted to delete a mark on the image the crank handle for manual start is fitted into the cowl, also looks like she has had the rudder recovered or at least re-painted. Another thing of note looks like the roundel on the port wing is missing? Another nice action shot I have aquired a ZK registered Widgeon can’t date it sorry? Finally the first Dash 8 100 that visited on her trial, non passenger carrying flight some time around 1982, note the Canadian rego. All the above images where kindly donated to me from the late Ken Ryan's collection.

ZK-AVM left New Zealand around 1990-91 from memory. It was at the 1990 Ardmore Airshow.

Bit of a catch up, BK117 was here a while back, used for taken weeders in to pull out exotic vegetation that threaten the native species, expensive weed machine! Didn’t get closer than this pic for this pair, pretty sure they headed east? Not my shot, in briefly for fuel and gone. Finally an arty shot of two of the regular Dash 8-200s.

Bit of diversity, all visited this week! Didn’t meet the pilots of the above but did have a bit of a chat with Stephen Boyce who along with his son along for the ride was ferrying this XL750. The aircraft was on it’s way from New Guinea to New Zealand, took off this morning around 7.30am Lord Howe time and flew direct to New Zealand I think New Plymouth with all going to plan a flight time of around six and a half hours! Didn’t know he was going to do this, Steve kindly rolled the aeroplane towards the camera as she flew past the mountains.

Re the Aussie reconnaissance aircraft, back in 2006, my sister and brother in law were heading from New Calidonia, to Gladston in Australia, in their 16 meter power cat, and about 200K out from Australia a fairly inosent looking civil aircraft flew low over them, then contacted them by radio to find out where they were from, going, and ETA. isc

That PAC 750 was at Ardmore today. So PAC 750 is the correct name, I seem to remember a ferry pilot calling them an XL750?

They have many variations on the designation but most call it a PAC 750XL. PAC stands for Pacific Aerospace Corporation and XL is Extra Large.

Is there a smaller version? Or are they referring to the Cresco?

It's now called the PAC P-750XSTOL, I see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAC_P-750_XSTOLNot sure why they don't just call it a proper name and be done with it instead of continually changing the product code designation.
