This Cessna 337F arrived around 12.30pm yesterday and took off around 9am this morning for Norfolk island bound for a new home in NZ. She’s a mature old girl according to the net she was manufactered in France in 1971!

Sadly didn't get any pic's but a RNZAF Herc did a circuit of the island then a pass above the airstrip at around midday on the 22/7/17. Came from the east and headed west so on to RAAF Richmond I'm guessing.

Welcome home Planecrazy! The only known RNZAF Herc movement 22 July was NZ7005 returning to Whenuapai from Richmond as Kiwi 638 following its involvement in Talisman Sabre 2017.

And the Cessna 337 mentioned earlier in this thread has become ZK-SVY for a land survey company based in Cromwell, Central Otago. The aptly registered push-pull Cessna is apparently going to be based at Ashburton.

They use it to target exotic weeds, mainly Bitou bush was imported from South Africa for dune stabilisation on mainland Australia.
They reckon these days around 46% of the Australian coastline has a Bitou bush problem, seed would probably have blown to the Island in the westerly winds.
The nozzle is used to access the weed on steep slopes and cliffs, an expensive weed machine!

That's OK, as long as they don't try using it as a whipper-snipper!

Latest visitor, didn't stop but flew over, having been trying to capture a RNZAF Hercules for a few years, I am very great full to a long distance spotter who gave me notice on this one and I got lucky spotting her while at work. NZ 7002, call sign "Kiwi 303," had flown from Cairns via Lord Howe Island then home to Whenuapai, did a missed approach from the south then climbed out to the east.

Had a couple of Herc's fly over last two days, 25/9/17 quite high and yesterday quite low but above the cloud cover so couldn't id if they were Ozzie or Kiwi?
