When I sat in 05 2 months ago she had a sheep skin cover (Very very well worn!) on the part of the ejection seat where you park your bum (hopefully it did the job) and the cracks on the left hand side wing are very obvious to see. I also remember seeing this bird being put through her paces on her last flight and Ive always wanted to know what Chris (undies) Underwood was thinking knowing that this was his last flight ever in Skyhawk

Great photos there Gavin. They actually make quite an impressive site all lined up together! Just wondering, do they have the aircraft tail number on the outside anywhere so you can identify each aircraft? Has anyone counted them to make sure they are all there?! So who is going to be first to make a model of the new "Whitehawk" Maybe they should invite Helen Nark down to Woodbourne to sign each one - that will increase their sale value ;D

Wrap her in latex! Second thoughts the image I'm getting is making me feel rather green!

So who is going to be first to make a model of the new "Whitehawk" Maybe they should invite Helen Nark down to Woodbourne to sign each one - that will increase their sale value ;D There was a plan to have the numbers visible but it didnt quite work out so the numbers are in vivid pen on the opposite side of the probe just in front of the nose wheel door and interesting you should ask that as it was the first question I asked. They are all there but three more still need to be done as the coating ran out. On that note, the coating actually looks to be quite durable and made me a bit happier to see that there is some good portection on the top surfaces but not sure weather the aircraft will sweat between the metal and cover. They do look quite good all together like you say, but I think we all prefer them in green and at 400 knots.

Will it be durable though? Pics that ive seen in the past of F4s, F16s etc at Davis Monthan AFB in the States covered in Latex are in most cases fully covered....not half done. In the latest issue of Combat Aircraft two retired Ecuatorian Jags are showin completely covered in a giant bags so maybe that wouldve been a better idea than a partial latex cover? Water and moisture will find its way into every nook and cranny and the birds will nesting up in the under carriage bays in no time! Bloody expensive bird nests if you ask me...but maybe it will keep the Green party happy?

For some reason "Twin Peaks" sprang to mind (although my mind can be a strange and scary place at times).
"She's dead, wrapped in plastic"...
Cheers, Stu.

Exactly. "Wrapped in plastic" was the theme I had in mind also. But it is not so funny sadly.

Wrap her in latex! Second thoughts the image I'm getting is making me feel rather green! You're forgetting the problem all that hot air that politicians emit would cause ..... OK, enough ... back on topic now. So who is going to be first to make a model of the new "Whitehawk" Personally, I feel the latex covering gives the aircraft the look of an unpainted kitset model ... one that someone got tired of working on and shoved to the back of the cupboard to be forgotten about until it eventually gets too many parts broken off through neglect and is thrown away despite the pleading of others who would desperately love to patch it up and proudly display it. Hmmmm .......

Saw it on TV3 last night. Wish the Air Force would get a "spokesman" who knew the front of an aircraft from the back of one! That guy hasn't got a clue what he is talking about. Find a guy just out of university with a Degree in Spin Doctoring (note: nothing to do with spin recovery!), give him a uniform with some Flt Lt rank slides, wave the magic wand and all of a sudden you have an Air Force spokesman who is an expert on every aspect of the RNZAF and military aviation I bet he has never even seen a Skyhawk flying!

To be fair Don, Glenn Davis is an RNZAF Public Relations Officer, and thus like all the PRO's is only telling the public what he's told to tell them. He probably doesn't like the situation any more than we do. Glenn has actually helped out this forum with useful information in the past, and hopefully will in the future too.
I hate to say this, but the Skyhawk cuts a fine figure dressed in white. I'd like to have seen one painted that way, rather than being smothered like this though.
Will they be unwrapped on the morning of 25th of December?
