Does anyone recognise the service personnel in this advert?
In the shot where there's a parade in front of a VIP Andover, the next shot shows a high ranking officer on the left and a WAAF on the right. I'm not certain, but the WAAF looks a lot like my old Corporal, the late Jacqui Elder. Beags, what do you reckon?

not sure there Dave. it might be, but don't think so. as for some of the other scenes, 5 sqn, craig Hilton on start up, mike moore removing chocks and johnny loader marshalling, I think I had just started 40 sqn, first tour.

The pilot who lowers his visor near the start is Don Laming, ex 75 Sqn, now flies for Air New Zealand.

The penguins having a beer and scoff, Mark Woodhouse, Blair Brownlee and Cec Pitt. So would this be late 1980's ?

Thanks Beags. Yeah I am just not sure if that's Jacquie. I never realised that was John Loader, yay an S&S guy!
I got an email just now from John Saunders who says the pilot drinking coffee is Scott Arrel, and the senior officer on that parade is the forum's own Robin Klitscher (RobinK). So cool that a forum member is in the ad, even if he hasn't posted here for some time.

The P3 Orion (04) still had the searchlight under the starboard wing - seen twice in the vid. Neat advert though Dave - thanks

If I remember correctly that light was a 22 million candlepower Night Sun light.

If I remember correctly that light was a 22 million candlepower Night Sun light. The Night Sun (Xenon tube) was/is used on the Iro the P3 was a carbon Arc system and was around 90 Million candle power I think. It was the same as that used on the P2 and simular to what the Nimrods used as well.

Ah yes. Thanks for the correction. I remember now.

from memory, the P3 search light could only be operated on the ground for so many seconds then left for a while before operating again as the heat would have melted the plastic shroud as opposed to operating it in flight with cold air cooling it.
