Twizel Airshow bites the dust

After 10 successful years, the Twizel Airshow, billed in 2012 as Wings Over Water, has come back to earth.
Wings Over Water spokesman James Leslie said the Twizel Airshow had gone into recess but the seed capital remained in case other people wanted to step up and run the event.
"Regretfully, the show in 2012 was the last one, unless someone chooses to revive it," he said.
Staging the event has not run foul of the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, which described the application from event organisers as "exemplary", but rather of costs to meet regulatory requirements such as airshow licences for participating pilots.
Mr Leslie said the airshow, based at Twizel's Lake Ruataniwha, had been popular with the public.
