Hi everyone, I'm not sure this is the right place to put this, but I thought you might be interested in these photos I took at my local war memorial yesterday.

The plaque honouring those who did not return inside St James Chapel.





The Ngatimoti memorial was only the second erected in the country to honour the Great War dead, the first was in Kaitaia.







The individual in the picture is Pvt William Arthur Ham, who was the first New Zealand casualty of the Great War.



A genuine WW2 veteran; according to its owner, it came from the UK after the war.

A nice part of the world not too far from home & I would guess typical of many ceremonies going on in small communities around the country. Thanks for sharing this.

Ah Ngatimoti, Brereton territory.

Next door neighbours, in fact, if you can call living rurally "next door". The land I live on was formerly owned by the Breretons.

Yep, Steve, it was a lovely ceremony populated by nice folk, nearly into triple figures. The weather held out just enough for the wreath laying outside.
