On the 6th of May 1934, Sir Henry Wigram, father of New Zealand aviation, died.
Sir Henry was an extraordinary English-born New Zealander who became Christchurch's first mayor, an MP, Canterbury's first motor car owner, inaugral president of the Canterbury Car Club and supporter of many other causes as well as his interests in aviation.
Rest in Peace Sir Henry Wigram
