they could make quite a bit of money for the 14 Sqn social club that way. Pilots would get rostered on for the weekend just like bar duty was. What would be a fair price for an hours flight in the T6.

The way the current training system works, you are more likely to get a backseat ride in the simulator, they have been known to auction such things off on TM.

This just in from Richard Jackson:
"This announcement about the next milestone with the T-6C project was shared around the RNZAF today: Today, the first of the RNZAF’s newest additions to our fleet, two T-6C Texan IIs, depart Wichita for their long journey home. Preparations are under way for a welcome ceremony in Auckland on 21 AUG 14, followed by their arrival in Ohakea on 22 AUG 14. Today highlights all the hard work and dedication that has gone into the Pilot Training Capability Project by all the team members, including MoD, RNZAF and Beechcraft; delivering an excellent capability on time and within budget. The route is interesting (approx): Kansas - Ottawa - Labrador - Greenland, Iceland, UK , Italy, Crete, Jordan, UAE, India, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Aussie - Darwin and Cairns - Honiara SI, New Caledonia, to Whenuapai."

Hmm I wonder out loud, if that is the surprise for 28th September, I doubt it though... although it would be great for a discussion point and even a speaker to lead in about the decision process and its performance - now that would be a draw card!!

Now if only the RNZAF were servicing them it really might feel like a new aircraft for the air force.
