Hi
How many here would buy an Ebook on a specific type of aircraft as opposed to a hard copy? What would you want to see in an Ebook (content not aircraft type) and what would you want to pay?
Content could include, text, still pics, video, sound.
And yes this should be in the book forum, but last time I posted, there was not much response.
I have a big meeting next week and would like to have some kind of idea on what may work.
Thanks

Alex, by "eBook" do you mean something that you purcahse as a disc, or more like a file you can purchase and download?
I guess the kind of things I'd like to see would be all the 'techie' stuff like specifications and performance details of the particular aircraft, some historical information about the type, and heaps of photos and video as well (if available). Maybe also a pilot's report on what it's like to fly too would be cool?
Are you trying to keep the Bank manager happy? ;D

In an Ebook you can have live interviews, although it may not be much different than a DVD.

Okay, so I'm not as silly as most people think then! ;D
That sounds like a great idea, Alex.
I notice with some music compact discs nowadays that when you play them they often contain a link to a special website with more photos, video, etc. Would that be another option for your eBook idea; for maybe adding new or updated material at a later date?

Hi Alex,
This sounds like an interesting plan. I agree it would be good to include film and sound of the aircraft where possible, especially operational, but also preserved stuff. Maybe film of the aircraft in museums today, or in flying collections, etc.
And interviews with pilots and maintenance people or design team memebrs would also be good, especially if multimedia rather than just written.
Do you need a film maker? I might be able to assist.
Another idea, if perhaps the CD is about a military aircraft type, and you're including details of markings, maybe a few pages of printable drawings that could be printed directly onto decal sheets for modellers? Just a thought. You'd need white decal sheet of course.
The only worry I have for you is as soon as you sell a few, people will begin copying them and passing them on, and you'll not sell as many as a real book.

Thanks, as I thought. Ebooks are a solution waiting for a problem. A good way to release self help style books maybe?
Craig, I have your print. Let me know when you will be in town.

Dave/Alex, isn't there software that makes it difficult/impossible to copy compact discs now.
Is that an option to protect your material from being copied if you were releasing it in cd format?

I don't think it'll ever be impossible. If the technology is there to prevent copying, it'll be there to hack that system too. Always the way.
