It has been a wee while since the last Wings Over New Zealand Show podcast, because I have been busy with other things lately including the all new "Wings Over New Zealand Live Show" on Warbird Radio, and my other podcast series, "Courage And Valour: New Zealanders In the Italian Campaign"However here's some good news, the latest Wings Over New Zealand Show is here! "Episode 72 - Jonathan Pote" is a very interesting interview with doctor and pilot Jon Pote who has led an amazing life. We hear his memories from plane spotting and wreck hunting to his involvement in saving important aircraft from the scrapper including a Lancaster, a Seafire and a Walrus. We also hear about his flying with Air America in Laos, working for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Queensland, volunteering with the Queensland Air Museum and the New Zealand Bomber Command Association, his Search and Rescue operations in Devon, his combat hospital work in the First Gulf War, meeting veterans, living in New Zealand and much more. Some of you will remember Jonathan from Episodes 60 "Forum meet 2014: Part Two" and 68 "Unveiling The Captain's Fancy". Here's the episode, I hope you all enjoy Jonathan's memories as much as I have. www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZ_Show_71_80.html#Pote

It's a shame we can't vote how much we liked this episode, I listened to it on the way home from Auckland and would gladly have rated it six out of five!

Zac, I had not bothered with the poll for recent episodes as no-one was bothering to use them. But given what you just wrote, I have added one. I think this is a brilliant episode because Jonathan is such an interesting chap. So, rate away.

Yes, another excellent episode. I hadn't previously connected the name with the articles on Laos in The Aviation Historian.

Thanks Dave. I laughed, I almost cried, Jonathan was - as my Dad says - good value. I can imagine him being a multi-parter like Mr Kruse.
