These new tool Airfix kits are great...Very detailed! This one is painted in the default kit colours of the Shuttleworth Collection aircraft (I saw the real thing in action in September), originally it may have been in 'Cobber Kain's colours. Lots of stenciling & inspection panels in the decals. Kit comes with detailed rigging instructions

Nice one Harry. I'm regularly hearing good things about Airfix new toolings. Rigging instructions are most useful I imagine. What do you use for the rigging wire itself? Cheers Wally.

its single filament copper wire...bit tedious & time consuming but seems to work. I glue initially with a drop of pva & then once its all complete another drop of cyano to seal it

The colours on the Shuttleworth Gladiator at the moment, and on this kit, are for a No. 73 Squadron RAF aircraft that was not only flown by Edgar "Cobber" Kain regularly, but also by his kiwi Flight Commander and friend, Dereck "Bill" Kain (who went on to become a Wing Commander, and later lived here in Cambridge).

Very nicely done; thanks for sharing with us. As I haven't seen the kit in its latest upgrade, can anyone tell me if Airfix have provided the necessary 'bits' (ie, a 3-bladed propeller etc.) to enable a WW II-era 'combat' Glad' to be modelled? Thanks.
