Hi All, the Ceres chapter from my forthcoming Wirraway book has become so large that it will now become a book in its own right.
So I have more room to add more details and include as many stories as I can find!
I'm working on a full set of new 3-view drawings showing the Type A, Type B and Type C variants for clarity, as well as the modifications during development.
Recently I spoke with three of the original Ceres development team members, and picked up a lot of great historical information from them!
If you have any Ceres stories or photos which I could use in the book, please send me a PM.
Regards, Derek

Here's a look at the start of one of the drawings. This has progressed a long way since I drew up the framework shown here. The heart of the Ceres is the hopper, you can see how the Wirraway front fuselage frame was modified to accept the hopper. Standard Wirraway engine mount. Regards, Derek

Did they cut something out of the spar to fit the hopper in?

The centre-section of the Ceres wing has two spars, so the hopper was positioned to fit between them. The full drawing will show that as well (yet to be finished)...

Hi Constantinos, the book is less than 12 months away.
The text is mostly done, just tidying it up and trying to chase some history of the NZ companies which used the Ceres*. I'm also working to finish the 3-view drawings...
Still looking for more photos of Ceres aircraft operating in NZ too. I have a good start, but could always use more!
Regards, Derek

As far as Wanganui Aero Work is considered, you should contact Richmond Harding in Wanganui: whitepages.co.nz/w/102255407/ He flew the Ceres for most of its time with the company and ran the company itself until the mid-00s. He is a mine of info and photographs.

Hi Zac, thanks for the tip! Bruce MacMillan flew the Ceres for Aerial Farming and then James Aviation in the Taumarunui area in the 1960s. I have two photos of him operating off the Laird strip in the bottom of the Kirikau valley, with loader. Probably to topdress our family farm. I will dig them out. Do I just insert them here?

I just received copy of the Ceres book. It seemed strange that it was cheaper from Book Depository in UK than purchasing direct from Australia.
One unique Ceres colour scheme I was not aware of is WWII Japanese Army green complete with red sun roundels. Now where did I put that 1/48 Wirriaway kitset?
