Brilliant programme. Got to admit I cheated and watched the complete story on U-tube.

So did I. I found Guy Martin a bit odd, like he was out of some 18th century period drama. I am surprised he's a television presenter in this day and age. But the programme wasn't bad.

Yeah watched it about three weeks ago. Should have posted the YouTube link then - sorry. Yes he is a bit out of his league but his enthusiasm makes up for some lack of knowledge and naivety ...

I saw the full version when I was looking for the trailer on Youtube. I was tempted to watch it but I will wait for it to be on the big screen with all the great ads about how I should get life insurance

For those who don't know, Guy Martin is a motorbike road racer. I think anyone who competes in the Isle of Man TT is bound to be a bit odd!

Thanks for the reminder, I downloaded it a while ago, but our TV doesn't like the file for some reason. I'll try it on my tablet for en route entertainment.

Guy Martin is a bit of a character but I think Andy Hosking did a better commentary job on the DVD about the Avspecs restoration of Spitfire Mk. V "Marion". I won that DVD in a raffle at a forum meetup and have really enjoyed it. Whenever the commentator in the Guy Martin doco made a remark about how the Duxford guys are "the best in the world" at WWII aircraft restoration, I cringed just a little. Yes, they are certainly excellent, but I know a couple of kiwi companies that must be right up there when compared with any other outfit in the world. No, of course I'm not biased...

I thought the very same thing Evan. This Spitfire Guy Martin worked on is a dataplate rebuild. 'Marion' was rebuilt from the real thing and was therefore more original and authentic than the one in this documentary in my opinion. Nice to see another Mk 1 flying again though.

The commercial came on tv last night while a family friend was over for dinner, he rolled his eyes and said that he had seen the commentator before and he was a strange character. Not sure if I'm more keen to see the Spitfire restoration or the odd commentator now

I'd most certainly agree, but, let the Brits say what they want; every now and then we'll throw something out there that'll remind them otherwise, like, say, a flying Mosquito, FE.2b, RE.8, Albatros D V etc...
