Saw this article about B29 Superfortress "Doc" and that it looks like 2015 will be the year that will see a second airworthy B29! Click HERE

Hi Baz, Sad to report that ther could have been a third B-29 except for an accident. I copied a clip from Utube, but I was only able to copy 14 minutes of 1 hour on photo bucket, (sorry about that) but you should be able to find it on Utube.
The moral of this vid is "make sure your fuel tank is securely strapped dowm Beore taxying over rough ground".

Thanks for the update. So sad. I found it was a very interesting adventure.
Incidentally , how do you download and attach a video? I have Utube downloader, can you attach to forum directly from there?

You don't need to download it Pete. If you look near the bottom of the video on Youtube you want to share you will see a "Share" button (beside "Add To" and "More".) Clicking on this gives you various options but the link to the video is already there highlighted in blue so all you do is rest the cursor on it and right click and choose "Copy". The come back here, open up a New Thread or Reply window and put the text you want to put in as you normally do. Then make sure you have the blinking cursor where you want the video to go. Look above the text you have written to find the icons along the top and click on the little square black one (6th from the right). In the wee window called Video URL right click and choose "Paste" then click "Insert Video" Job done once you click "Create Post" and you'll see a screen shot where your video is.

I'll try this time. The thought of eight big round "corn cobs" -the sight and especially the sound sends massive tingles down the spine, pity there arn't twelve "corn cobs".

I wonder if the original props were refitted as the "flight corn cobs " would have been removed. They were overhauled engines, to good and valuable to leave in the Greenland enviroment. g

Snaphead, The term "Corncobs" is usually taken to refer to the 4-row P&W R-4360 Wasp Majors as used on B-50s, B-36s, Stratotcruisers, etc, but B-29s such as Kee Bird were fitted with the comparatively conventional Wright R-3350 Cyclone 18s - definitely NOT corncobs in my book. As a keen consumer of REAL corncobs (and I have booked in an X-ray appointment on Monday for investigation into probable accidental ingestion down my windpipe), I have a very keen interest in corncobs of all types! Ooops sorry . I assumed (a common feature of my brain) that all "big round noise" were referred to as "corn cob" engines.
Got to admit I'm partial to a nice corn on the cob with a roast, even if bits if the cob get between my teeth.
