Perhaps tomorrow, then? Hopefully the rain holds off long enough to get an engine run in today and for Dave to refresh his Mossie cockpit drills etc.
Unfortunately the webcam Graeme linked to doesn't show much in the way of activity. But it's a handy way for we out-of-towners to keep track of what the weather's doing.
I'm still planning on coming up Sunday!

A short taxi out to the engine run area. Dave P shut her down after a while out there (port engine first), and she was towed back to the hangar for some tweaking (hopefully just tweaks!) Tomorrow? I think they want to do a full power engine run before taking her up.

Thanks Errol. It's great to have updates from someone on the ground. The NZ Civil Aircraft blog has shared several photos of this afternoon's engine run and taxi for TV959/ZK-FHC. Doesn't she look the business, all buttoned up? If only they'd add her rego to the fuse in little black letters nzcivair.blogspot.co.nz/2016/09/zk-fhc-at-ardmore-this-afternoon.html

I'm in the office 5hr away and I feel as distant as you do Ando! I have my phone at the ready and all the normal blogs and Facebook pages ready to go. The webcam images look the same as yesterday, though. Great photos and video, Errol! That sound at 0.30...lovely! I'm hoping to hear more of that on Sunday. Photogs from NZ Civil Aircraft and MRC Aviation were also there yesterday.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sound with just the DSLR's mic, especially as it was a moderate distance away! I think I'll spend part of Saturday getting my head around the video controls for the D7200 (they are a bit different from the D7000's).

I know CAA in NZ are very reasonable compared to requirements elsewhere in the world regarding individual registration markings - does TV959 need to be marked, or is the pseudonym "NZ2337" only sufficient to appease them?

I am just looki9ng at this image and refreshing Ctl-F5 every 15 mins... www.avionics.co.nz/northcam.jpgand calling up Kereru to find out what's going on. He said he wouldn't capture a short video on cellphone and post it on FaceBook - meany!! Easterly so a different runway today.

This is simply a gesture to give it a Kiwi flavour since this has been a long hard slog done by Kiwis. It's not getting its final paint here in New Zealand so a temporary measure to remember our own veterans who served on the type here in NZ.
Warren and I discussed the markings way back in March and I supplied him some photos of No. 75 Squadron aircraft. I have been eagerly awaiting this day to see the secret revealed. It's bloody marvellous and it looks even better than I imagined. I am really looking forward to Sunday now!

I've been doing the same, Graeme! It's been ages since I've been so happy to watch clouds.
You and me both, Dave! As soon as she emerged with black spinners I've been hoping she'd get RNZAF marks, even temporarily. Awesome, awesome stuff.
For those keeping score at home, here's a potted history of the real NZ2337 from ADF-Serials: Built at Standard Motors. Previously TE757 and delivered sometime between 27 May 1945 and 21 December 1945. Ferried from the United Kingdom by an RAF/RNZAF crew and BOC Ohakea on 09 May 1947. Ferried to Woodbourne for storage shortly after arrival. Destroyed by fire in No. 2 Hangar at Ohakea on 02 June 1950. An inspection lamp fell into an oil drip tray, starting a fire and the aircraft was unable to be pushed out of the hangar in time to save it. Written off books at Ohakea on 05 July 1950.
