Thanks. The top two pics would seem to be of a Napier Lion (possibly from a Fairy IIIF). Unfortunately, the Solent Sky site seems to give no details about its engine exhibits, so what (if anything) can you tell me about it? Thanks.

This museum got burgled last week, I read, and the thieves stole Reginald Mitchell's unique cigarette case among other items.

The Spit behind the Merlin, PK683?? Looks like a 21/22 or 24 with the gear doors. So there must be a big old Griffon on display there too.
I would love to hear a Sabre running. Are there any in the world anywhere that could be run? Gollllllly that thing is a beast!

There are no Napier Sabre engines running yet but I believe Kermit Weeks hopes to get his Tempest V flying eventually. However to hear a Sabre, there are recordings of them from WWII and you can find sound files of them if you search the internet.

Here we go and sadly no Griffon engine on display other than the one inside this machine, see link to more pics at bottom of page. rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/22681/couple-supermarine-bookends

Kermit Weeks has two engines, one I believe is a crate engine found in UK but will need a full strip and rebuild before approval is given to fly. He may just get it running with minimal effort and never fly it.

Spitfire is a MK24, last of the breed.
