Fascinating! Aircraft sank in a storm while docked over night and drifted out to sea a bit.

That article is from Dec 2013 and at that stage they had retrieved 2 engines and 2(?) front turrets. The Trust is still raising funds with the intention of recovering major pieces later this year. According to the article the remains are well preserved but I'm a bit dubious about the beneficial properties of a Milford Haven mudpack lasting 75 years. I've done a rough calculation and if the wings and fuselage remain intact then as much as 1000 tonnes of mud and marine life could have accumulated. Anyway I guess they've got all that surveyed and plans in place to clear the silt away before they lift. At least it's in relatively shallow water in a sheltered estuary so they can take the time to complete the process safely. I wish them a speedy project as there's no more fitting location than Pembroke Dock for a memorial to the Guardians of the Atlantic.

Thanks, I never saw the date. Another ancient link someone stuck on Facebook as if it was new. There's a much more interesting project happening right now in Sweden, Karl Kjarsgaard, who is rebuilding the Halifax in Canada and was involved with the rebuild of the magnificent one there in the Trenton Museum, is surveying the wreck of a Halifax in a lake and he posted today on Facebook that the divers have discovered a Condor nearby, and he's found leads to two more nearby Halifaxes. All very positive stuff but very early days yet. MOTAT should put in dibs on one.
