Quite a find on eBay the other week - a 488(NZ) Squadron crest. It just arrived today, so I thought I'd share. The crest is hand carved out of wood and hand painted. No clue as to it's provenance, but it is a great addition to my collection.#

Nice find. Is that a Queens crown on the top though?

Actually it is not a crest but a Badge. A crest can form part of a badge but is not in itself a badge. Note that the RAF, for instance, had (possibly still has) an Inspector of Badges.

Good find Adam and good to see your enthusiasm for our 488 Squadron is still to the forefront. Thought I should let you all know that I have just today signed and returned to a publisher a contract for the sequel to 488 Squadrons history to be published in the USA. This will cover the squadrons time in the UK & Europe carrying out night fighting operations. My completed manuscript is in their hands and I await progress with interest. I will keep you all updated on progress.
