Not a naval version at all, they were transporting the aircraft to North Africa as part of Operation Torch, for the USAAF and the RAF to use.

Although not navalised P-40s were launched from the USS Ranger (CV-4)on 10 May and 19 June 1942 and landed at Accra in what is now Ghana en route for the AVG in China.
